We're building Velvexa to work for as many people as possible. Here's where things stand today.
What We've Built
The site uses semantic HTML — proper header, navigation, and footer landmarks — so screen readers and other assistive tech can make sense of the page structure. The mobile menu uses real focus management: Tab cycles through it without escaping, Escape closes it, and focus returns to where you were. The FAQ accordion is built from native buttons, so it works with a keyboard the way any button should, with no extra effort.
If your browser or device is set to reduce motion, our animations respect that — they shorten to nearly instant instead of playing in full.
Product images are set as backgrounds with a descriptive label on the surrounding link, so screen readers announce what each one links to — the product name, category, and price — even without traditional alt text on the image itself.
We designed the site with a warm, high-contrast palette for legibility, though we haven't run a formal contrast audit yet.
What We're Working Toward
We aim to meet the standards set out in Ontario's Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). We are not currently certified or independently audited against either — this is a goal we're building toward, not a compliance claim.
Found a Problem?
If anything on the site is hard to use with a keyboard, screen reader, or other assistive technology, tell us. Email support@velvexa.ca with what you were trying to do and what happened, and we'll look into it.
